LONDON, Oct. 7 (Reuters) – European pay-TV company Sky on Thursday announced a streaming TV that integrates its set-top box functionality into the device and is connected via WiFi rather than needing a satellite dish.

Sky, which was acquired by U.S. cable operator Comcast (CMCSA.O) for $ 40 billion three years ago, names the product Sky Glass, chief executive Dana Strong said at the product launch.

“It’s the only TV in the world with Sky inside, plus all of your favorite apps. It works over WiFi, so no satellite dish, no box and no fuss,†said Strong.

Sky Glass will be available on a monthly contract, she said, starting at £ 13 per month. It will launch in Britain on October 18, followed by other markets in 2022.

Sky, which was acquired by US cable operator Comcast (CMCSA.O) for $ 40 billion three years ago, said it would be available in three screen sizes: 43 inches, 55 inches and 65. inches, which would cost 649 pounds, 849 pounds, and 1,049 pounds respectively if purchased direct.
