Chick-fil-A sets opening date for new Gastonia NC store
Popular chicken fast food chain Chick-fil-A has set an opening date for its new Charlotte-area store.
Chick-fil-A Cox Road in 424 Cox Road in Gastonia will officially open on Thursday, according to a company press release on Tuesday.
The first and only Chick-fil-A in town at 3350 East Franklin Blvd. permanently closed at the beginning of the month. The Closed June 15 led to the layoff of 117 employees, although workers could apply for jobs at the new restaurant, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.
The Cox Road store has around 115 full-time and part-time staff, Chick-fil-A said.
The new store is approximately 1 mile from Franklin Square on the former Ruby Tuesday site.
About the new Chick-fil-A store
The Cox Road store, off Interstate 85, will offer catering, drive-thru and delivery services.
Instead of the company’s traditional Chick-fil-A campground opening with free food giveaways, the store will surprise 100 “local heroes.”
The franchise owner is Nolan Hatley. according to the press release.
The Cox Road Restaurant will participate in Shared table programproviding surplus food to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and non-profit organizations.
Store hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Saturday.
Other recent Chick-fil-A store openings
The Atlanta-based chain has opened several more stores in the Charlotte area over the past year.
In October, Chick-fil-A opened a store in 7404 Matthews Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, southeast of Charlotte.
In July, Chick-fil-A opened a Gaston County restaurant in 925 South Point Road at Belmont.
And, last June, Chick-fil-A reopened his East Woodlawn Avenue renovated store in Charlotte drive-thru only.
