Delhi: Jamia Placement Cell partners with online digital learning platform to impart skills to students
The University Placement Cell (UPC) of Jamia Millia Islamia has partnered with an online digital learning platform to equip students with essential technical skills.
The platform is called IBM Skills Build-CSRBOX Foundation.
“The foundation is a digital skills development and learning platform where students can learn industry-relevant skills and courses. The collaboration will facilitate the delivery of free digital learning to college students through the acquisition of essential skills such as hard skills, vocational skills and employment readiness skills,” Jamia said in a statement.
“IBM SkillsBuild is an open-access digital learning platform with over 7,500 learning activities/courses focused on building industry-relevant skills in students and job seekers over the age of 18 years,” he added.
Vice-Chancellor Najma Akhtar said that “the collaboration would go a long way towards honing students’ professional and job-readiness skills by making them more employable, and the bridge between industry and academia would be minimized.”
Technical skills would include areas related to specific fields such as artificial intelligence, digital marketing, cybersecurity, data science, etc.
Professional skills would include courses such as improving communication, critical thinking, and creative thinking.
“Employment readiness skills would consist of topics such as resume writing, interviewing, etc. The courses are available online and are open to all graduates and post-graduates who register on their portal. They will also hold offline employment readiness workshops for students,” the university said.
For the collaboration, a formal letter of agreement (LOU) was signed between the two parties. This is initially for a period of one year.
