British factual group Zinc Media has appointed former Shine TV boss Tanya Shaw as chief executive officer of Zinc Television.

Starting in his new role in November, Shaw will oversee the company’s London and Manchester-based television labels and work to accelerate the growth of unscripted content, both nationally and globally, in the whole group. She will report to CEO Mark Browning.

Zinc TV brands Blakeway, Brook Lapping, Films Of Record, the recently launched Supercollider and Red Sauce, which announced an expansion of their production and development teams earlier this week, fall under Shaw’s purview.

She will also oversee all new TV labels set up by the group as it expands into new factual genres.

His appointment follows the recent decision of Greg Sanderson, former London TV director at Zinc Media Group, to step down from this role to focus on creating programs as an executive producer across brands.

Shaw joins Zinc TV from Shine TV, where she served as Managing Director for six years, before announcing her departure in January, overseeing factual programming including Chef and its various spin-offs and contribute to the development of traveling brands such as hunt and The Island with Bear Grylls in the return of the series.

Prior to Shine TV, she was Editor-in-Chief of Feature Films and Formats at the BBC, where some of her key commissions included The great challenge of interior design, Mary Berry cooks and Rick Stein’s India.

Shaw also worked as an editor of a fact-related article on Channel 4, commanding broadcasts, including Alone in nature, Tsunami: filmed and Elephant: life after death.

“The creative richness and premium quality of zinc is recognized around the world. Their businesses produce exceptional programming that resonates around the world, and I look forward to helping them drive their growth plans, diversify their customer base and strengthen their already world-class creative team, â€commented Shaw.
