Grameenphone receives People Award at Telenor Global Awards

Grameenphone recently received the People Award at the Telenor Global Awards at the Telenor Global Forum in Fornebu, Telenor Group’s Oslo global headquarters. – Press release

Grameenphone received the “People Award” at the latest “Telenor Global Awards” at the Telenor Global Forum in Fornebu, the Oslo global headquarters of the Telenor Group, a press release said.

Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman received the honor virtually on behalf of the organization.

The People Award criteria measured areas that are central to the organization’s people strategy, categorized into three categories: first, learning culture and development, second, safety and well-being , and finally, employee engagement and organizational modernization.

Through rigorous examination of various qualitative and quantitative parameters of all business units in these three dimensions, Grameenphone was declared the winner of the award by Telenor.

Grameenphone was one of the first to prepare for the future through skills enhancement and building future-ready capabilities in 2021. It has become a lean organization with a remarkable acceleration of organizational transformation , fostering a culture of learning and agility. More than two hundred experts were upgraded during the reporting period. The technology services leader and connectivity partner of Digital Bangladesh achieved an average of 61.8 learning hours per employee against the 40-hour challenge. This organization-wide initiative encourages employees to learn and explore various courses from different leading learning platforms. Grameenphone also improved the Employee Engagement and Empowerment Index over the prior year with a focus on safety, which has been key to protecting people across value chains during the pandemic and example of their good governance.

Cecilie Heuch, Telenor Group Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources and Sustainability Officer, declared the winner at the event, congratulating Grameenphone for being a business unit full of hardworking and passionate people.
