Samoa Joe explains his silence on social media

As noted, it was revealed last month that WWE released Samoa Joe as part of a major overhaul of WWE NXT and Performance Center staff.

Joe followed up the news with a statement he posted on social media. In it, he says he’s proud of the moments he created with NXT talent before he left, and he hopes to see them continue to grow.

“Extremely lucky and grateful to all the amazing young talents I have had the pleasure of working with over the past few months. Only saddened by the loss of an “excuse” to see their continued growth and accomplishments. I am very excited for their future,….. and mine [upside-down face emoji]“, wrote Joe.

Since posting that message, Joe has remained silent on social media and in the press. Understanding that fans of the seasoned ringside veteran might be wondering where he is, Joe posted an update this morning and explained his absence.

“My lack of engagement on Twitter is simply based on my overall increased happiness. It’s amazing how much more hope you can have for the world when you’re not spending the morning reading the world’s most prolific idiots supported by the algorithm,” he writes.

Joe’s final months on the WWE main roster saw him become part of the BELIEVED announce the team weekly as he recovered from his injuries. He was released in April 2021 but was later rehired to work in an enforcer role in WWE NXT that same July. Joe would then make a return to the ring and face then-NXT Champion Karrion Kross. Although he won the championship, he had to give it up soon after due to an undisclosed injury.

Performance Center sources noted that a few weeks after Joe relinquished the NXT title and was made inactive in mid-September, there wasn’t much talk about his return to the ring at the WWE. There’s no word yet on Joe’s next moves in the pro wrestling world, but we’ll keep you posted.
