Scheduled March Programs at LV Active Life – Times News Online

Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown, has scheduled the next Saturday dances from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in March.

Cover charge includes light refreshments.

March 12: “Bootschootin” with Peggy Sue Country Dance

March 19: “KATO”

March 26: “DJ Jerry Deane”

The senior center will also offer the following programs:

·March 15, 22, and 29: Instructor Grace Conti will offer “Tap True Beginner” from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tap shoes are required.

·March 14, 21 and 28: “Line Dance Beginner” led by instructor Peggy Sue Tobias will take place at 12:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

March 10, 17, 24 and 31: bring your project – knit, crochet or other needlework and join the “Knit and Chat Group”, from 9am to 11.30am

Every Thursday, the group knits a little, talks a little, talks about everything and learns something about each other and their talents. All levels are welcome. Free for members.

March 10, 17, 24, and 31: Instructor Gina will be offering a “Quilting and Sewing Group” from 9:00 a.m. to noon or 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Learn to quilt if you are a beginner. All skill levels are welcome.

March 11, 18 and 25: Genealogy course led by Judy Ritter Martens, 9am-11am

Learn how to trace your family tree and find your roots on

Bring a laptop if you have one or a laptop will be provided.

This program is free for members.

·March 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30: Instructor Trisha Baker offers an arts and crafts class from 9:00 am to 11:30 am This class is free for members.

March 9, 16, 23 and 30: Instructor Sue Bauder will lead an “Art for All” class, from noon to 3 p.m.

March 11, 18, and 25: “Art For Everyone” with instructor Sue Bauder, 9-11:30 a.m.

Whichever support you choose for these two classes, help is available.

Both beginners and advanced students are welcome to attend these classes.

March 15, 22, and 29: Instructor Bonny Batman offers a walk-in ceramics class from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

March 11: Instructor Dr. Charles Bonos will present a lecture/discussion “World War II: The Battle of Midway,” 2-3:30 p.m.

March 14, 21 and 28: “Beginner Tai Chi” led by instructor Brian H. Kunsman will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This class consists of a series of slow, flowing movements that promote holistic benefits for the individual practitioner.

These benefits include improved balance and coordination, leg strength, cardiovascular health, mental focus, stress relief.

March 11, 18 and 25: Instructor Bob Donnelly will offer “Tai Chi Exercise”, a holistic exercise to help reduce stress and promote physical well-being 10:30-11:30 am

·Through March 31: Instructor Ed Nickles will lead “Zumba Gold” Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. and Fridays at 11 a.m.

Dancers and non-dancers alike will enjoy this Latin-inspired dance and fitness class designed for seniors. The rhythm is slower than classic Zumba.

March 14, 21, and 28: Instructor Michele Fisher will offer “Barre,” a low-impact toning class that blends the principles of Pilates, yoga, weight training, and ballet to activate your whole body from 10:15 a.m. at 11 o’clock.

March 10, 17, 24 and 31: “Mat Pilates” led by instructor Robert Comins will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Mat Pilates is a form of strengthening and lengthening exercise that focuses on the core muscles, but also strengthens the arms and legs.
