Before players turn their sights to the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews, they will first travel to North Berwick, Scotland for the 2022 Scottish Open. year, the Scottish Open marks the first co-sanctioned event between the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour outside of golf’s world championships.

As such, a strong field has taken shape with 14 of the top 15 Official World Golf Ranking players choosing to play at Renaissance Club. The only name missing from this list is world No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who has peaked four consecutive weeks of competition in the Travelers Championship. The Northern Irishman is preparing for the Open on his own, and given that he’s finished in the top 10 in all three major leagues this season, he probably shouldn’t be questioned.

As players hope to peak next week, the competitive strength at the Scottish Open is high, and with it will come a quality of golf usually reserved for major championships.
