Théa Pharmaceuticals has launched a new educational platform for eye health professionals in the UK.

The free Théa Academy platform offers online events, courses and workshops covering a variety of therapeutic areas, with the possibility of earning CPD and CET points.

Topics covered include dry eye, glaucoma, cataract surgery, and blepharitis.

The platform also offers an open access library with books, brochures and articles for healthcare professionals to examine perspectives from across the industry.

The Académie Théa is open to healthcare professionals including optometrists, ophthalmologists, pharmacists, nurses and students.

At the launch of the platform, Deborah Hunt, Consumer Product Manager for Théa, explained that while continuing education and professional development had previously been provided through face-to-face meetings and hands-on training, “in 2019, we realized that there was an opportunity to provide education to a wider audience through the use of online webinars.

This was something that became even more necessary during the pandemic, shared Hunt: “After a very successful webinar series in 2019, 2020 and 2021, we evaluated our program and realized that with the assets we had, there was an opportunity for us to make this education even more accessible and flexible by launching an online education platform.

Users of the new platform will be able to take lessons at their own pace, save work as they go to pick up where they left off, and review content at any time.

“With our new Théa Academy, healthcare professionals will have access to the latest lectures from renowned eye health professionals, as well as the ability to meet essential CET and CPD requirements at their convenience,†Hunt continued. “We are delighted to make this valuable resource available to everyone involved in eye care. “

The new site will complement Théa’s ongoing monthly webinars and face-to-face meetings, which the company aims to restart “as soon as possible”.
