Top Universities Partner With Online Learning Platform To Offer Specialized Courses

Leading institutes like ISB Hyderabad, IIM Ahmedabad, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, IISc Bengaluru and IIIT Bangalore have partnered with Coursera to create specialized courses that help learners to prepare for employment, said the online learning platform.

The Executive MBA from IIT Roorkee, the Masters in Data Science from the International Institute of Information Technology, Bengaluru, and the Global Management programs in Infrastructure and Operations and Supply Chain from the Indian School of Business are among the degree programs that Coursera has partnered with, he added.

”The Indian education system is going through an important phase of reform and recalibration. Online learning is now seen as a critical pathway to building a more inclusive, accessible and affordable model of education,” said Betty Vandenbosch, Chief Content Officer at Coursera.

“We are honored to partner with the country’s top tertiary institutions and industry educators to expand our portfolio of job-relevant degrees, which will make learning on Coursera even more rewarding for learners in India. and around the world,” she added.

Other new employability-focused courses launched by the platform include postgraduate certificate programs in machine learning for finance, strategic supply chain management with AI, cloud computing applications, deep learning for Computer Vision and Extended Reality, UX and HCI Design, Digital Manufacturing, Robotics and Mechatronics, and Natural Language Processing.

“We are excited about India’s new education policy, its ambitious goal of reaching 50% gross enrollment ratio by 2035 and improving the skills of India’s workforce. To do this, we will need to enroll an additional 35 million students in higher education in India by 2035. Not all of them can be taught on campuses.

“Opening up the possibility for the best institutions in the country to be able to provide education to many more people than they could accommodate on their campuses is something that we are really excited about,” Vandenbosch told PTI.

Coursera is one of the world’s largest online learning platforms for higher education. A total of 190 of the world’s top universities and industry educators partner with Coursera.

“The addition of these new educators – IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Indore, IIIT Bangalore, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Hero Mindmine, PwC India and Tally Education – brings the total number of academic partners to 14 and industry partners to five in the country,” she added.
